Indian Sanctuaries

One
of the good things about age old Indian taboos is that, like tourism, they
help to conserve wildlife. India, due to its exceptionally varied climates
and habitats which provide a home for some of the world's most magnificent
birds and animals.
A tradition of reverence for nature and other living things makes it possible
for the world's second crowded country to set aside huge forest tracts exclusively
for the benefit of wildlife. Ancient Indian religious texts clearly express
the view that man is an intrinsic part of his environment. Although the most
superior of all of God's creatures, he is, nevertheless, conditioned by and
dependent on all the forms of life that surround him.
Recently due to depletion of natural habitats and imbalance of eco systems,
animals such as tiger and lot others are finding their names into list of endangered
animals. Recent efforts like Project Tiger have contributed and tried to ensure
that these majestic beings and animals continue to live and thrive in their
natural environment.
